Turmeric, a powerful natural remedy

Turmeric is considered the saffron of India and is rich in valuable properties for our body. An ally of weight-loss diets, it is beneficial for the heart, skin, and teeth.

Turmeric is a spice native to Java. Its natural habitat also includes India, Central America, the Antilles, and Malaysia.

The yellow color of this spice is due to its pigments, called curcuminoids, the main one being curcumin (present at 90%), which is used as a food coloring. Curcuminoids belong to the class of polyphenols and help prevent cardiovascular and neoplastic diseases.
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and antioxidant effects. For this reason, it is considered a powerful natural remedy. It can be consumed in combination with pepper, ginger, oil, or butter, which enhance its absorption.

Below we outline the main beneficial effects on our health:

  • Anti-tumor effect: it helps prevent the onset of intestinal, skin, and liver cancers by inhibiting tumor cells. It also contributes to blocking the growth of cancerous blood vessels;
  • Fights colds: it has antibacterial and antiviral properties that help strengthen the immune system. It is an excellent remedy for preventing seasonal flu;
  • Regulates gastric functions: useful for relieving diarrhea and constipation. It eases stomach pain and spasms;
  • Improves oral health: it is considered a natural remedy for teeth whitening. It helps remove stains from teeth and kills germs, leaving the mouth clean and bright;
  • Combats acne and dryness: it nourishes facial skin and also acts as an exfoliant;
  • An ally of weight-loss diets: it promotes a feeling of fullness. It helps metabolize fats consumed during meals, preventing bloating and flatulence;
  • Reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease: it strengthens the lining of blood vessels and lowers blood cholesterol levels;
  • Stimulates memory: it has the ability to slow the aging of brain cells. Just one gram of turmeric added to a regular breakfast can reduce cognitive decline and help prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
